Northwest of the lowland area of Chiang Rai a short drive is the mountainous jungle area where many different hill tribe villages are located.
They have made it easy for tourists to see the hill tribes and to allow the villagers to be photographed to generate income for their families.
Each day several hill tribe people wear their native clothing and set up shops to sell their local handicraft.
You pay a single fee at the entrance then nobody ever asks you for more money for taking pictures.
The day shops are separated from the village itself by a short walk to give them more privacy.
